Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Max Pekarev is the founder of Thrive Reconstructive Surgery. A specialist in plastic and reconstructive surgery, he established his private practice in 2013 after completing his fellowship training in plastic surgery.

At the age of 14, Dr. Max emigrated with his family from the former Soviet Union to the United States. He earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, where he was a four-time All-American athlete and he won the NCAA Saber Fencing Championship in 1996. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he also completed his residency in general surgery.

He completed an additional three years of advanced training through a highly prestigious plastic surgery fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is dual board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Plastic Surgery, reflecting his commitment to safety and patient well-being. With the successful expansion of his practice, Dr. Max continues to devote his efforts to serving the greater DFW metroplex community.

In his spare time, he loves spending time with his wife, Eileen, and two children, Madeline and Evelyn. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoys rooting for TCU athletics.

Known for his skill and compassion, Dr. Nicholas Flugstad takes a thorough and personalized approach to every treatment, always prioritizing safety and patient satisfaction. Along with his team, he is dedicated to staying at the forefront of plastic and reconstructive surgery, continually offering the safest, most effective, and most comfortable procedures.

After earning his medical degree in 2008, Dr. Flugstad began a rigorous, integrated six-year residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals. This core training covered all aspects of plastic surgery, including hand surgery, microsurgery, and general reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Flugstad completed a clinical fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2011, training alongside some of the world’s leading microsurgeons. After completing his plastic surgery training in 2014, he pursued an additional one-year fellowship in aesthetic surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Joseph Hunstad, a renowned expert in the field. During this intensive program, Dr. Flugstad participated in several hundred aesthetic procedures, further refining his surgical expertise.

Dr. Flugstad went on to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. This rigorous 18-month process requires extensive review of a surgeon’s expertise and clinical judgment, ultimately resulting in certification by a dedicated group of peer plastic surgeons.

Dr. Flugstad resides in Argyle with his wife and four children. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys hiking, swimming, and water sports, as well as chasing after his twin toddlers. During his time off, Dr. Flugstad also enjoys traveling to visit extended family in the Northwest, with favorite destinations including the San Juan Islands, Whistler, and Mount Rainier.

Reconstructive Surgery

Dr. Sri Kurapati, known to his patients as “Dr. Sri,” has spent the past ten years honing his skills in plastic surgery. He specializes in reconstructive surgery with a focus on the hand and upper extremity, as well as breast and body contouring.

Dr. Sri grew up in the beautiful rolling hills of West Virginia. He proceeded to earn a bachelor of arts in economics and a bachelor of science in premedical studies at the University of Dayton. While there, he played NCAA Division I tennis and was active in multiple art competitions.

He continued his training in the Buckeye State, earning both his doctorate of medicine and master of business administration from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Lindner College of Business. He went on to complete his first residency in general surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he discovered his passion for plastic surgery. This led him to pursue a second residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery through Baylor College of Medicine’s Department of Orthopedics in Houston, Texas.

Through Dr. Sri’s extensive medical training, he has cared for patients in general surgery, plastic surgery, and orthopedic surgery. He excels in partnering with patients to achieve their goal of being the best version of themselves.

In his spare time, Dr. Sri loves to play tennis, and he dabbles in oil and acrylic painting. He approaches plastic surgery as a union of art and science and is dedicated to providing his patients with the highest quality of care.

Dr. Rivet has been providing exceptional reconstructive and aesthetic surgical care to patients in North Texas since 2020. During this time, he has helped his patients regain both form and function through careful, detail-oriented reconstructive work. He has built his practice around intentional one-on-one time with patients, ensuring they feel informed and reassured during the planning process leading up to surgery.

He remains closely involved in his patients’ recovery, providing support through consistent communication and regular follow-up visits. His staff is knowledgeable, personable, and accommodating, creating a comfortable and caring experience from the moment you walk in the door.

Dr. Rivet is experienced in many areas of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. His special areas of interest include abdominal wall reconstruction and complex hernia repair; facial trauma reconstruction; extremity reconstruction following trauma, cancer, or surgical complications; and soft tissue reconstruction for chronic inflammatory conditions such as hidradenitis, pilonidal disease, or lipedema. He also treats most hand injuries and performs skin and breast cancer reconstructions.

Focusing on some of the most complex patient needs has been both rewarding and challenging. Dr. Rivet looks forward to continuing to provide exceptional plastic surgical care to his North Texas community for many years to come.

With more than 23 years of experience in reconstructive and plastic surgery, Dr. Robles is dedicated to improving patients’ lives with both his surgical expertise and compassionate approach to care. He completed his plastic surgery training in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Duke Medical Center.

Dr. Robles practiced both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery in Phoenix, Arizona, before relocating to Plano, Texas, in 2024 to support his daughter’s gymnastics dreams. There, he has continued to advance his work in reconstructive surgery, always striving to push the boundaries of what is possible in the field.

As a bilingual Spanish speaker, Dr. Robles is able to serve patients who might otherwise have difficulty finding care. He remains dedicated to providing the highest standard of surgical care, drawing on the extensive knowledge and experience he has gained throughout his career.

Dr. Louis is a plastic surgeon who was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, in 2014 and went on to earn his medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, in 2018. During medical school, he was drawn to the creativity, artistry, and problem-solving that plastic surgery demands. He completed his residency training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, where he learned from many of the leading experts in the field.

In his free time, Dr. Louis enjoys gardening with his wife and daughter, staying active, and reading. He is excited to be back home and to give back to the community that first nurtured his love of learning and curiosity.

Dr. Taylor Crist

Reconstructive Surgery

Dr. Crist is a reconstructive surgeon specializing in complex reconstruction and hand surgery. A native of East Tennessee, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee before earning his medical degree. He completed his integrated residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he gained extensive experience in microsurgery, breast and cancer reconstruction, and in trauma repair. Dr. Crist further refined his expertise through a fellowship in orthopedic hand surgery, focusing on complex upper extremity conditions.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Crist enjoys traveling, golfing, and exploring new cuisine with his wife, Amber, a general surgeon specializing in endocrine surgery, and their golden retriever, Rosie. He is eager to become an active contributor to the Fort Worth community, enhancing its culture, growth, and vibrancy.
